I am a professional artist, currently in my second year of study on the MA in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. I have had a varied career including two years teaching in a university in China and 12 years working as an Exhibition Designer and Manager in museums and galleries. At the National Science Museum I worked on projects as varied as underwater imagining from the Titanic, human powered flight and handling objects from The Mary Rose shipwreck. Since moving to Cambridge (UK) in 2005, I have made a name as a collage artist, exhibiting extensively and selling work world-wide. (www. emmabennettcollage.co.uk). In 2015 I created The Cambridge Art Book, which shows my adoptive city through the eyes of over 50 artists working in a range of media and styles. Following the book's success, The City Through The Eyes of Its Artists Book series was born with a further 7 titles in the series, published by Bloomsbury. With distinctive covers designed by me, the books have received over 50 celebrity endorsements, from Sir Paul McCartney to Miriam Margolyes. The pandemic saw my daughter Molly and I work on a children's picture book together (Finn and the Five Flies), which reignited my love of children’s picture books. This created a burning desire to learn the art of picture book illustration in all its forms. Now in my second year on the prestigious MA at Cambridge School of Art, I have produced illustrations and sequences as varied as those set in the 1970’s to a story of 2 giraffes crossing America by car in the Great Depression. I am thrilled to be currently working on an educational-illustration project with a Cambridge school, as well as The Manchester Art Book to be published by Blooomsbury in 2024. I have a lovely studio in Cambridge with rooftop views, which I share with a snoring Labrador called Barney. I have a son studying law at Liverpool University, a daughter studying A Levels andI have been married to Craig Bennett, CEO of The Wildlife Trusts for over 20 years. Clients for my art/collage work include: The Scott Polar Museum, Friends of The Earth, The RSPB, The University of Cambridge, Lucy Cavendish College and private clients from as far aways as New Zealand. |
